Tims Ford Lake is located approximately 75 miles southeast of Nashville, 50 miles from Huntsville AL, and 85 miles from Chattanooga. The lake covers 10,700 acres and spans two counties: Franklin and Moore. It is managed by the Tennessee Valley Authority and is one of two lakes in middle TN that allows for private dock lake access. The lake is deep and despite a water level fluctuation of approximately 15 feet throughout the year, many properties on the lake have year round water. There are four marinas and one state park on the lake: 

The TVA is no longer issuing new dock permits to land and all new developments in the area must have community docks. Two prominent lake front communities are Twin Creeks Village and Fanning Bend.
